Staffing & Parent Involvement
The Supervisor and assistants run each session, however parents/carers of children attending Little Swans are welcome to join in. As a parent, this gives you the opportunity to see how we organise play, craft, story time, outdoor activities, singing and cooking etc.
The committee endeavours to employ enough staff members to maintain the adult to child ratio set by Ofsted, however, staff training, holidays and sickness may mean that on occasions we could require extra help to run a session.
For these instances we keep a list of parents and directors who are willing to help in the group.
(Please note: under no circumstances are our volunteers left unattended with the children at any time. They are also not permitted to assist with toilet duties).
Days out
From time to time we arrange visits to places of interest or for activities. We will always obtain your permission beforehand. Parents/carers are required to attend outings where possible so that we can maintain the adult/child ratio during any excursion outside the pre-school. In the Summer term, we go on a trip to local attractions such as Banham Zoo.
Keeping You Informed
We aim to keep parents/carers regularly informed about what the children will be doing with Little Swans so that you can keep up to date with progress and prepare your child if necessary. We will do this by providing newsletters and updating the whiteboard which is on display at every session. We also have a Facebook page where we regularly post what we are doing and upcoming events.
Fundraising
Throughout the year we have a variety of fun and social fundraising events. These range from Story Cafes,Bag2School to sponsored walks and bike rides (for the more adventurous!) and everything in between. We like to encourage parents to help out where they can, whether by donating prizes, time or ideas. Every little really does help!
