Sickness and Absence

In order to meet our running costs, fees are still due if your child is absent due to sickness, holidays or for any other reason. It may be possible to swap or make up your child’s sessions e.g. attend an additional session later in the week or the following week. Staff will endeavour to assist with this wherever possible.

We would ask, where possible that you advise a staff member when your child will be absent for holidays and to ring in when your child will not be attending a session due to sickness or any other reason.

If your child appears unwell, we ask that you keep them off pre-school until the symptoms have gone. If your child has sickness and/or diarrhoea they must not return to Little Swans until 48 hours after the last episode.

Health, Safety & Hygiene

Every parent will be asked to complete a form to provide us with information such as emergency contact telephone numbers, health issues and doctors details etc. We also need to know the names of people with permission to collect your child from pre-school.
Changes of details, such as a house move or new mobile phone number should be passed to us as soon as possible to keep emergency contact details up to date.
If your child falls ill while at Little Swans we will endeavour to contact you straight away. If an accident occurs, the supervisor will assess the situation and contact you immediately. If we cannot contact you or you cannot attend in sufficient time we will contact your child’s GP or hospital as appropriate.
We keep an accident book and record all incidents however slight.
We carry out a supervised fire drill every term and carry out regular safety checks for the building and equipment.
The children wash their hands before and after any activity involving food; after messy play and of course after using the toilet.
