Our Playroom
We have a large playroom with a cloakroom with child sized pegs. The playroom is divided into learning areas with an office, kitchen and children's toilet area. We regularly evaluate the space and provision making necessary adjustments termly.
Quiet Area
This area has two comfortable sofas with a carpeted area. There is selection of pillows and cuddly toys to enable the children to get cosy whilst talking and reading with their friends and staff.
Craft Corner
This is where we get MESSY! We have a range of craft resources available for free play including whiteboards stencils, paper/pencils. Painting, cutting and gluing activities are supported by a staff member throughout the sessions. There is usually a themed craft activity each week that connects to our story of the week.
We have kitchen area with baby resources. The children love to cook and take care of the babies together. They often take on the roles of Mum/dad or cafe utilising the till/phone resources.The kitchen is fully stocked with wooden food. Across from the kitchen is a dollhouse which enables them to explore their families experiences.
Home Corner
Sensory & Feelings Corner
We have darkened corner that is home to our sensory/ feelings area. This space has a range of calming light resources that promote self regulation and mindfulness. This area is a designated safe place where children can share their feelings with staff or their friends. The children often take themselves here during moments of upset or disagreements with their friends. A member of staff is always nearby to help talk it out.
1:1 Adult led focused area
This is distraction free area that is used to work on children's targets from other professionals such as Speech and Language therapists. This area is also used for adult led assessments such as Wellcomm (Speech & Language tool)
Small World
This area is home to the dinosaurs, wild animals, shells and many other natural resources for the children to explore the world around them.They often work together to build the most amazing zoos and dinosaur parks from the construction sets.
Maths Table
This table changes frequently, with a different maths resource each week. This includes exploring shaped magnets and nets, counting bears and sorting objects by their colour, matching numbers and a selection of board games. The activities are selected based on the children's development needs.
